Successocity – What It Is & What It Means

It was midnight and I was awake and reading “Tribes” – a book by Seth Godin.

On page 35 of his book, he has a few paragraphs about “Status Quo” and how we often run our businesses based solely on Status Quo as opposed to what we feel should be the way our companies and organizations are run.  It got me thinking.

For a long time, I’ve always felt that the value of what we did at BSETC could not be shown simply through portfolio items and other marketing means.  I always felt that in those instances, it just was never quite enough.  Something didn’t fit the bill so to speak.

I quickly learned that the issue was that we didn’t have enough live case studies where people could follow along and see what it was to create, develop, nurture and then sprout to the world in a creative and inspired way.  I mean, we had a lot of “closet” cases that we couldn’t be transparent about but nothing where we fully dissected projects and allowed community to weigh in on their opinions through the process.

So, after reading that one paragraph in “Tribes”, the idea for Successocity sprouted into my mind.

Here are some of the questions that followed:

  • What could I do for business owners if I charged them zero in upfront costs.
  • What if I said, “I’ll only receive payment IF this campaign generates revenue.  Otherwise, I don’t get paid.”
  • What would happen if my income was solely dependent on the success of the work I was doing?
  • How would that change how I work?
  • How would that change client interaction?
  • What opportunities could be formed by people who didn’t have the budget or manpower beforehand?
  • Imagine if a community could vote on parts of a project to create the ultimate needed thing?
  • What if others could do this same sort of working relationship under one roof?

I figured this was well worth figuring out so I sat down with a piece of paper and began sketching out ideas.  I got on Skype with my good friend David Burch to get a name that embodied what I wanted to speak out to others about and in that short hour, Successocity was born (thanks again David!).

So, what does Successocity do?

Well, for the moment, it’s me — Erin Blaskie — setting out to do work for individuals where the income I receive, the monetary amount that I am paid for my expertise, hard work and knowledge is ONLY derived when the campaign itself starts earning an income.  Think of it as an affiliate who does all the work for free and takes their percentage of the sales.

If you have projects you are sitting on right now but haven’t moved forward due to lack of budget, lack of resources, lack of someone to stand behind you in your dreams, then I want to help you.  I want to get involved with projects that are inspiring and make a difference and only receive payment for my time IF the project performs.  That’s it.

How you can submit your projects.

Now, let me be honest (as I’m never anything but)… I’ll be choosing these projects super carefully so that I can ensure the projects are fun, creative, inspiring and aligned with my own vision and ideals.  When you submit projects, they will go through an evaluation and at any given time, I’ll only be working on one… maybe two projects.

This work is not about earning a lot of income quickly.  This project for me is about making a real difference in businesses and being involved in a much greater way.

If this sounds like your project, submit your info here.

The types of projects I am looking for.

I want to be able to work on projects that have a clear start and finish line.  Perpetual projects (ie: those that never end) are not what I am looking to work on.  If you are finding yourself unclear about your project, please do not apply.  I want to work with individuals who have a clear vision and have put thought into their project.

I want to work with individuals who can release some of the control and power so that I can implement things quickly and efficiently.  This isn’t to say that I’ll be taking over but I do want to feel like the leeway is there for me to create and keep the project moving forward.

The biggest part is the idea that these projects have to mean something.  It can’t be another Internet Marketing e-book launch (although, if you yourself are inspiring and fun then definitely apply!) but rather things that are making a difference, having an impact, touching people’s lives and using creativity as a catalyst for change.

Come along for the journey.

There are many ways on this blog to follow along.  Eventually, I’ll be blogging about the projects I’m involved on and using transparency to get your opinions on things I am working on.  If you’d like to contribute and have opportunities to spread the message about these projects, please stick around.  Add the blog to your RSS reader and keep in touch.

If you yourself would like to do this type of work for people as well, let me know via e-mail.  If I get enough people who want to be agents for a changing way of working, I’ll setup a network where we can communicate available projects and the like.

Either way, I can’t wait to see how this work changes the type of people I get to interact with and the projects I’m involved in.

Yours truly,

Erin
